Windows
People replace windows for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes it’s the drafts. Sometimes the seals have failed and there’s condensation between the panes that won’t go away. Sometimes the windows just don’t work right anymore, they stick, they won’t stay open, or they’re painted shut from three owners ago.
And sometimes it’s about upgrading how the window works. Newer double-hung windows tilt inward so you can clean both sides from inside the house. Casement windows crank open and seal tighter than sliders. Some styles open in ways that give you better airflow or make more sense for the room they’re in. Windows have come a long way from what most houses were built with.
Energy performance matters too, especially in climates where the temperature stays extreme for months at a time. But it’s not the only reason to replace windows, and we don’t pretend it is.
We replace windows as part of full exterior projects and as standalone jobs. On insurance claims, window damage from hail or debris gets documented and included with everything else. The right window depends on the house, the climate, and what you’re actually trying to improve.
