Roofing Contractor in Wisconsin

Most roofing calls in Wisconsin start one of two ways. Either a storm did something to your roof and you’re trying to figure out how bad it actually is, or years have gone by and it’s simply time. Either way, we start the same, with a free inspection and a straight answer.

Wisconsin winters are cold and they stay cold, and snow load and ice dams do damage that often doesn’t show up until things start to thaw. Ice dams form when heat escapes from the attic, melts snow near the ridge, and that meltwater refreezes the moment it hits the colder eave edge. Once ice backs up under the shingles, water finds a way in. Balanced attic ventilation is the real defense against that, and it’s one of the first things we check on an older roof.

Summer brings hail, and it moves through fast. The damage isn’t always obvious from the ground, granule loss and a bruised shingle don’t announce themselves the way a missing shingle does. And in spring and fall, when temperatures cross the freezing line day after day, that cycling works at every seam and flashing point on the roof.

Wisconsin has a single statewide building code, the Uniform Dwelling Code, and it requires ice and water shield on any roof slope of 4:12 or less, extending at least 30 inches up-slope from the eave and 12 inches past the interior wall. That baseline applies everywhere in the state, though how each city handles permits and inspections on top of it varies.

If it’s not storm-related, we still start with the same honest look. We use the same 50% rule insurers use to separate a repair from a full replacement, and we’ll tell you which side of that line you’re actually on, even when a bigger job would be the easier sale for us.

Storm Damage Doesn't Fix Itself

Wisconsin hail does real damage to roofs, and insurance companies aren’t always thorough about what they document. We walk the whole roof, find what’s actually there, and present it in a way that holds up. We meet the adjuster on-site, handle the estimate, and push back if the number that comes back doesn’t match what we found.

Most claims close in around 30 days. Contested ones take longer, and we’ll tell you that upfront.
