Mount Horeb calls itself the Troll Capital of the World, and the troll statues lining historic Main Street aren’t a gimmick, they’re a genuine part of what makes this village stand out in the Driftless region west of Madison. It also carries one of the higher household incomes in this part of Wisconsin, and homeowners here tend to expect real care in a roofing job, not just a quick patch.

We were very happy with the work and interactions with all the people associated with the company and we would recommend them to others.Posted on Thumbtack Cheryl M.Verified 5 Star!!! We hired Joe to be our main contractor after a tree fell on our shop wrecking the deck, the stucco and putting a hole in the roof, plus other misc damage. He did an excellent job managing the project. He handled everything with professionalism and plenty of communication which made the process a lot less stressful. He also did a lot if the work himself, his work was very well done and our shop turned out super nice! Thanks Joe!
Two Reasons Mount Horeb Homeowners Call a Roofing Contractor
The May 2024 Tornado That Hit Mount Horeb
On May 21, 2024, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down east of Mount Horeb and tracked northeast for nearly five miles, with peak winds estimated at 100 miles per hour. Two sheds were destroyed and trees came down along its path. Two weeks earlier, quarter-sized hail was reported about a mile west of the village during a separate severe weather event.
Wind that strong doesn’t always leave obvious signs on a roof. Missing shingles are easy to spot, but lifted flashing or a compromised deck underneath often isn’t, and neither shows up from the driveway. That’s what the free inspection is for.
Every Roof in Mount Horeb Needs a Permit, No Exceptions
Some villages carve out exceptions for a simple reroof. Mount Horeb doesn’t. The village’s own building department confirms a permit is required for any roofing or siding work, no matter how straightforward the job looks. The Village Building Inspector, Chris Michaels, handles permits and inspections directly, with office hours Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7:30 to 11:00. Every reroof still has to meet Wisconsin’s Uniform Dwelling Code, including ice and water shield on any slope of 4:12 or less, extending at least 30 inches up-slope from the eave and 12 inches past the interior wall face. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection as part of the job, so it’s one less thing on your plate.
Why That One Construction Co. Is the Right Mount Horeb Roofer
When a full replacement is the right call, we install CertainTeed shingles and carry ShingleMaster certification. We picked that line because we trust how it holds up over time, especially somewhere that’s already seen the kind of wind Mount Horeb has.
We also use the same 50% threshold insurance companies use to judge total loss, so a roof doesn’t get replaced before it actually needs to be. If a section can be repaired without disturbing the rest of the roof, we’ll tell you that.
Making sure it looks like we weren’t there is the standard we hold every crew to. We protect landscaping and driveways before the first shingle comes off, and every job wraps with a magnet sweep for stray nails.
