The estimate was clear, simple and there weren’t any surprises. I would highly recommend this That One Construction Company if you want expert work, done right, clear & concise communication, and no surprises. Will definitely use them on our next home.Posted on Thumbtack Timothy P.Verified Joe Huber was helpful and communicated effectively. A few employees made a mistake with the service date but cleaned up and were very friendly throughout the process, and then came on the correct date. Joe was open about cost and service from the start and That One Construction did the work for a fraction of the expected cost.Posted on Thumbtack Rachel F.Verified Joe was there when he said he would be, responded promptly to questions via text, and made my scheduling request work. We highly recommend That One.Posted on Thumbtack Mary J.Verified We received three quotes for our roof and That One Construction Company was the most affordable option. Joe, the owner, had flexible hours for meetings (quote and going over the plan) and he was very knowledgeable understanding our needs. We needed our roof re-decked and there were other requests for new vents and covering old vents. We were very happy with the work and interactions with all the people associated with the company and we would recommend them to others.Posted on Thumbtack Cheryl M.Verified 5 Star!!! We hired Joe to be our main contractor after a tree fell on our shop wrecking the deck, the stucco and putting a hole in the roof, plus other misc damage. He did an excellent job managing the project. He handled everything with professionalism and plenty of communication which made the process a lot less stressful. He also did a lot if the work himself, his work was very well done and our shop turned out super nice! Thanks Joe!
Two Reasons Monona Homeowners Call a Roofing Contractor
The Grapefruit-Sized Hail That Hit Monona in April 2026
On the evening of April 14, 2026, Monona took a direct, repeated hit from one of the more severe hailstorms confirmed anywhere in this part of Wisconsin. Hail fell in waves over several hours, starting around ping-pong-ball size just after 5 PM and growing through hen-egg size before a peak report of 4-inch, grapefruit-sized hail confirmed just after 6:30 PM, the largest single hail size confirmed anywhere in this entire research project.
A storm like that doesn’t leave a roof looking the same as it did the day before, even when the damage isn’t obvious from the driveway. A roof-level inspection is the only way to know what’s actually there.
Monona Code Classifies Your Roof as "Impervious Surface"
Monona’s city code has an unusual detail buried in its stormwater and erosion control rules: a roof is explicitly classified as impervious surface, the same category as pavement and driveways, because of how it sheds water toward Lake Monona. That’s a stormwater rule, not a roofing rule, but it says something about how seriously this city pays attention to what happens on top of its buildings.
The actual building permit is handled through General Engineering Company, a contracted firm that staffs the Building Inspection office at City Hall three mornings a week. Every reroof still has to meet Wisconsin’s Uniform Dwelling Code, including ice and water shield on any slope of 4:12 or less, extending at least 30 inches up-slope from the eave and 12 inches past the interior wall face. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job, so it’s one less thing on your plate.
Why That One Construction Co. Is the Right Monona Roofer
About 80% of what we do is insurance claim work, and we keep staff whose only daily job is talking to insurance companies, not just answering the phone when one calls. After a hailstorm the size of the one that hit Monona this spring, having someone dedicated to that conversation matters. We’re on-site for the adjuster’s visit, and we don’t let an underpaid estimate go unchallenged.
Once a job is scheduled, we send a prep email walking you through what to expect and how long the work will typically take, usually a day, sometimes two depending on the roof.
Your Monona Roofing Company
That One Construction Co. serves Monona and the surrounding area, including Madison, McFarland, and Maple Bluff, for roof repair, roof replacement, and free roof inspections. If this spring’s hail has you wondering about your roof, or it’s simply been a while since anyone looked at it, call us and we’ll walk it and give you a straight answer.
